The law requires that people who offend should be answerable to the courts. Any course is offered at the sole discretion of the Chief Officer of the area where the offence took place. Nobody has an automatic right to a course irrespective of how minor or serious it may be.
Your licence will be cancelled revoked if you get 6 or more points within 2 years of passing your test. Not every speeding offence will result in the offer of an option to attend an awareness course. Courses last for 3 hours plus additional time to complete the required course administration and breaks. Courses are delivered in a training room for up to 24 offenders clients. Two trainers must be present throughout each course.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to say how impressed I was with the course and, in particular, with the course leaders. I was expecting it to be a bit of a shaming exercise and potentially quite boring but I found myself really engaged and interested the whole way through. Garrad and Jacqui were brilliant at keeping it interesting and humorous whilst still reinforcing the serious and important messages.

Anyone who has been referred by the police to attend a National Speed Awareness Course. There is no police involvement.
Arrive early You must arrive on time for registration. Late arrivals will be refused entry and their case may be referred back to the police. Valid identification You must produce Photo ID in order to attend the course This must be a physical document; digital copies will not be accepted.
Failure to produce Photo ID will lead to your exclusion. Every effort will be made to offer an alternative date, provided there is sufficient availability and time within the police deadline. A further rearrangement fee will be required. If you do not have Photo ID, you will need to speak to the Police Force who referred you for the course, prior to your course date.

Yes, providing there is sufficient time within the deadline given by the police. You can change the time, date and venue of the course once you have booked.
This decision is final and mitigation cannot be considered. It does not involve a written test, driving test or role play. However, the course aims to be interactive between participants and tutors. Safer Better Driving Course SBD The Safer Better Driving course is aimed at those drivers who have been involved in a collision without serious consequences, where their driving has amounted to a lapse of concentration or an error of judgement.
