I backup my SQL databases but I have yet to do a test recovery. To test the recovery, do I only need to try to do a restore within SQL and if it says it is successful, I am good to go, or are their other thigns I need to do to test it? Such as the CheckDB command.

To do this, I just open up a query and type in CheckDB? Is that correct? My database backups are automated so should I setup some kind of automated task to run this command before and after every backup? My SQl server is virtual.
